I had assumed the tar balls where relatively large, I also did
not mean 'copy' but rather # mv, with the assumption that they
where on the same device and that the move amounted to pointer
changes and not replication of data.

>From Jens' above -- if you are able to identify the files with find,
you could, using your suggestion build a custom/daily include list,
or rather than symlinks, use hardlinks, but again, this amounts to
a slightly more complicated # mv, also requiring that both directories
be on the same partition.
