Right, it looks as if it's not the offset which is causing the trouble.

I'm not sure what else the trouble could be. I would first think of basic 
things like: Are you analysing the right logfiles? Have you got a TO
command? You could try turning all the debugging on and see what happens, or
alternatively run with -settings.
