I agree entirely. Perhaps if one of us unixey people had a bash at it and came
up with something that Steve could just stick in the tar, or even just refer to
in his add-ons page? Or is it much harder to make than I think?

I think it would be a good idea anyway: Being something of a linux newbie
myself it usually takes me hours to install some program and get it running
properly with all the soft links etc pointing to the right place. Not that I'd
have the slightest idea where to start when it comes to writing
./configures'....
