FYI: It seems a UNIX server will give the error that a program failed to run if
that program is not able to locate a neccessary file. In this case, analog was not
able to locate the language files and the reason for that is more subtle and
something that I think you should point out on you're troubleshooting pages.
My web site is a virtual host on a physical machine (as are most web sites) and
pathways are tricky as you have to be careful to distinguish between virtual and
absolute paths. The file anlghead.h contains a line specifying the location of
analog; analog will work fine from the telnet prompt irrespective of whether you
use a absolute or virtual path in this setting BUT IT WILL FAIL TO LOCATE OTHER
NEEDED FILES (like language files) if you use an absolute path AND try to execute
analog from the cgi script anlgform.pl.
This has taken me literally 20 hours of work to determine over the last week! I
hope you and others will find it useful.
