hallo ...

my first experience with analog was with the FreeBSD port.

The FreeBSD is a small collection of script files, which fetch and install the
software for you.
For analog, for example, all I had to do was this:

cd /usr/ports/www/analog
su
make install && make clean && make distclean

and then fill in the analog.cfg, test analog ... and off I was.

Under Linux I did everything myself, but I used how the FreeBSD port installed
everything as
somewhat of a guide.

The FreeBSD ports safe much time ... they work far better then the rpm's. I've never
tried the
.deb's, but I've heard they work well.
