Currently we have more than 5 web servers

we have a cron job to ftp log from each local server to a centralized
server for combined log analysis

what i am thinking is that: is it good to centralize the log into one
place, something similar to Google Analytics, put a javascript at the
end of each page, and request the same sever for log analysis.

the advantage is:

1. by using this, each local server can run as log disabled -> better
performance
2. log is already in one place, not need to ftp and combine

anyone want to share the experience in distributed log analysis?
