what i am thinking is that: is it good to centralize the log into one
place, something similar to Google Analytics, put a javascript at the
end of each page, and request the same sever for log analysis.

the advantage is:

1. by using this, each local server can run as log disabled -> better
performance
2. log is already in one place, not need to ftp and combine

You are measuring something different though: with log analysis you measure hits to resources on your webserver(s), including images, downloadable files etc. and from JavaScript enabled browsers as well as other user agents like search engines, with pixel tracking you are measuring page views by JavaScript enabled browsers. Both are useful analyses but you won't get the same type of information.

IBM developerWorks has a good article covering both approaches, see http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/web/library/wa-mwt1/
