The contest is going better than I expected. Much of the SDK works.
You may have to choose to use the part that works, and it may not be
the first way you choose, but there was a way to show what we wanted
to show. The API demo code kit has a lot of different stuff in it - I
was amazed at the breadth. They made a decision to let the SDK get
long of tooth just to keep the contest fair.  That decision had, and
has, real costs. Google knew the costs and made an expensive decision
for the sake of contestants like yourself.  They are not getting near
the credit they deserve for making that decision. From a time to
market perspective the delay on the SDK will have cost more than the
$1.25 million purse for these first 50 qualifiers.

So even though folks are heavily invested and may not recognize the
return if they don't qualify, Google is holding up their end of the
bargin at a real cost to Google. Please be appreciative.

The contest is going better than one could have expected.
