At least as far as the argument of screen sizes is concerned - personally I don't count that as an argument in support of fragmentation or anything. At least in that regard someone had the foresight to anticipate this coming.... the emulator offered multiple screen sizes all the way back at the start, so everyone could/should have been prepared for this.
