Follow along with me now: currently, you have to pay $25 to sign up as a developer, yes? So, currently, to write a useful free or open source app without ads will cost you $25, correct? So I suggested a $10 fee per app instead of this, and you want to submit one app, yes? My math is fuzzy, but I believe $10 < $25. (Please correct me if I'm wrong) This is of course in the context of the idea where one would not have paid $25 to begin with. If you can afford to sign up as a developer, one would assume you can afford to pay LESS to submit an app... Regardless - I know times are tough, but if you have the resources to develop an app (computer and / or laptop, internet access, device, books, etc), you should be able to find $10 somewhere. If your app takes 10 weeks to make, save $1 a week. I know, I'm crazy to think people can afford this. If a spammer wants to publish 100 porn apps with ads, maybe he will > repay the 1000 $ in about a week. > Maybe ... but PROBABLY not. Spam works via distributing mass volume for little to no cost. As soon as you add any cost to it, it will deter a lot of it. Especially in the Android Market where people make almost nothing on ads to begin with. For spammers, this "almost nothing" is fine because they have no costs (besides the one and only registration fee). Make them pay for each POS they publish and it's very likely their ad revenue will not justify the cost. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TreKing <http://sites.google.com/site/rezmobileapps/treking> - Chicago transit tracking app for Android-powered devices -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Developers" group.
