Marks response is going to be typical of many users and will only harm 
the image of the G1 as an "Internet" phone. Many people (myself 
included) are not willing to migrate their email to GMail especially 
given stories like 
http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/askjack/2007/apr/19/lockedoutofgmail

Personally I believe that the email client should not have been shipped 
with the 'phone and someone should have mentioned on the -developers 
list that writing an email client might be a good idea.
