I also had tetherbot working on several machines running Vista. With
Vista I noticed it worked using IE 7... as with firefox I changed the
proxy setting in socks to IP address 127.0.0.1 which is the localhos
and used port 1080 in IE 7. I own two G1's and both were working fine.
I noticed that with the new rc30 update it stopped working on both
G1's. I am still trying to get to the cause but have had no luck as of
yet.

Another thing I did notice in Vista is that the driver for the Android
changed to a microsoft driver. I been trying to point the driver back
to the original driver but have had no luck. For some reason it has no
roll back option (roll back is greyed out) which means there is no
driver to roll back to but knowing I did load the driver correctly
does not make since... there should be a roll back option. I tried
uninstalling but when it scans for new devices it loads the microsoft
driver.

I'll keep trying... love the tetherbot use in G1
