25$ fee is justified and in fact is a great deal. I commend Google for
charging us only that. I think we're interpreting the original post
above differently. I've been working on an Android app for a while but
its not ready yet to be published. When I heard about the phone I
signed up for market place since I plan to use it anyways. However you
can't help but feel a bit duped when you see the shipping. That is
what I think the original post is getting at. Lets face it, you're not
going to sign up for Market Place unless there is an IMMEDIATE reason.
Either you're ready to upload your application, or the other reason
was if you want to order the phone to help you develop. People are
such that, when they spend money on something they expect an immediate
return and because he found that shipping put phone out of his reach
he got no immediate return.

Also consider this. What if he wants to play with the Android OS and
has no desire to write Android applications. What if its a h/w product
that he's working on and wants another device he can learn from. In
this case the only reason to sign up is the phone, and he would still
be an Android developer. Or might be just an enthusiast wanting to
play with the platform...
