I disagree. Google has managed to get a pretty effective viral
marketing campaign going. I've had at least half a dozen people ask
me if my phone was "the new googlephone" while using it in a public
place. They're curious about it and want to know if I like it.

Google has never used mainstream marketing gimmicks to sell their
products. They've never had to, because the water cooler does their
advertising for them.
