Personally I'd say it's not ready for mass consumer thrashing so they 
should hold back on any big PR push.

With the software shipped on the G1 I'd like to see;

- Marketplace out of beta, serving paid-for apps, and with a comments 
system you wouldn't think twice about showing your children (or just 
replace it with the AndAppStore client ;))
- An Email client which can handle IMAP nested folders (or replaced with 
K9 with nested IMAP folders).
- A browser with Flash support (which could be turned off by the user of 
course)
- a PDF reader of some kind included

Once these are in place it would be worth ramping up the PR, because the 
last three are considered pretty much de-facto standard functionality 
for a phone costing this much.
