I honestly don't know how the market will act. I hope it's not as bad as I think it will be. But I do believe that many people will return a game after they've played it through for a couple hours, and get their $1-3 back to buy something else. There will always be honest supporters, but my concern is how many of them will keep an app once they've beaten it?
" If someone is that reluctant to spend money then it would be very hard to get their custom even without a return period." I wholeheartedly disagree. Once a user is used to a system that lets them get things for free, they may well expect it. If they know the system won't let them get it for free, they may expect that, and are possibly more likely to spend money. It is incredibly easy to return an app. A user doesn't even have to say why, just click a random radio button and it's done! (I'm guessing that's how returns work - as I haven't bought or returned any apps myself). My hope is for a bright future on Android, otherwise I wouldn't be bothered working with the platform at all. I really enjoy the programming model, the phone, and the possibilities it offers. I just hate the rental...I mean * return* policy. The return period should be 1 hour, IMO. A user should know if they like an app in an hour, if it's worth keeping, if it works and doesn't force close on start up, etc. Why the need for 24 hours? In case of network outages? I can't fathom the need for 24 hours. I...just...can't....
