Mike,

The first sentence in his first email asked that question, but
throughout the rest of the thread he also packs in a lot of criticism
that is off-topic and invites negative responses.

I don't know why there is no VPN client, I presume the reason is
similar to why there is no Exchange/ActiveSync/Flash/<add your
favourite missing feature here> support right now: resource shortage,
politics, and/or money.

My point is that he won't get ANY helpful answers if he continues to
make back-handed comments like: "If you want to sell phones you should
have thought about the nature of phone numbers and why they may
contain "*" and "#"
 and what implications that has on sending text messages".

If you think this is an acceptable way to present yourself on a public
list then feel free to engage him in discussion about how you don't
know why a VPN client is not currently supplied with the Android
platform.
