lbcoder, how many countries have you lived in? That statement is utter bollocks.

I've not been able to buy paid apps from Android Market ever since
Google Checkout decided to drop Maestro. I rely on AndAppStore and
contacting the app developers directly to get my paid apps, and I
suspect I'm in the small minority of people in my position who don't
download pirated copies instead.

I am not prepared to deal with over-charge costs, charge off
blacklisting, late payment charges, loaded exchange rate fees, or even
the sheer volume of targeted advertising spam from these credit card
companies, just for a few £2 utilities/games on my phone.
