As you can see it alters *property settings* on the 'phone to make it look like it's being used from T-Mobile US. That's right. *property settings*.  No mock location provider, no swanky call interception, it's just a set of properties.

So if your firmware comes from a carrier, it's almost certainly going to have their property settings in it by default, and hence it doesn't matter where you are you're firmwares properties will determine the access you have.

I believe it... and, if true, it exposes such a huge flaw in the
system.

As someone who downloads 100% of apps over wifi, I'm pretty confused
why my carrier (I nearly always disable the APN) gets any money at all.
