There are two types of ROMs to the Hero, the ones with sense (coming from HTC or customized by users, but with sense anyway) and laggy, and the ones compiled from sources with missed capabilities (Bluetooth, glitches, etc).
My question is, since we've got the sources for Hero kernel (http:// developer.htc.com/), and the AOSP project, why noone did compile a fully-working-without-sense-then-faster-1.5-AOSP Rom for Htc Hero? OR why it is so difficult to compile a working 2.1 Rom if we have the kernel, hence the drivers?
