I understand that journalist often take things out of context or
misquote someone, maybe somebody should ask Andy about this at Google
IO. (I won't be there unfortunately).
But I don't see how you can argue that the API to turn the screen off
is not ready for prime-time or that is a security risk. Its one of the
most commonly used API's by the system and poses zero security threat.
They could even add a permission if they wanted to.

I suppose you could agree that they aren't "secret" because its an
open source project and you can call them with reflection but this
seems to go against the completely open principle he is talking about.
