>From what I remember of earlier discussions, in-app purchases are fine as long as the user is paying for what has just been downloaded (i.e. not what was made available via the Market app). So that's not the same as an in-app payment to unlock some pro features.
Consider mp3s purchased through the amazon app - I've never done this but I assume it works that way.
