I have a simpler solution.

I ignore whining.  For $1.50 they can buy my ad free version.

If its not worth $1.50 to them to end the ads then they can stop using the
app.  Thats no worse for my bottom line then if they started using it
without ads.

Oh, and to people who want my work for nothing, I ask them when was the last
time they gave their boss BACK their paycheck?

People who dont want to compensate you in any way arent customers, by
definition.
