I implemented it.  Yes, the documentation wasn't great, but it did the
job, and only took a few hours to code up.  I didn't bother with
Proguard or anything like that, as I really only wanted to stop people
directly copying the app.

So far, no complaints from any users.  Although, that app only has
around 10,000 users.
