I have an iPad and I think it is NOT a good product, because it lacks
a central filing system. In iOS, files are kept within an app and
there is no central file manager application. I believe this is the
same in Android. In my opinion, this is wrong and has to be fixed.

Below I propose an experiment that seems to be impossible to
accomplish in the iPad or any Android tablet. If these features were
implemented, I think iOS or Android would be real useful "post-PC"
OS's:

Imagine that you have a five years old son, like I do. And imagine
that you want to introduce him to a 100 interesting books, that you
are going to read with him for the next 10 years. Separate those books
in 10 groups of 10 books each. Imagine that you intend to read an
entire group with your son within an year. Also assume that every book
in your list is open access (not necessarily Project Gutenberg, but
available on the web in several sites). You are not going to buy any
book.

Do you think you can download the books in your list from the iPad or
an Android tablet?

Do you think you can categorize each book labeling the specific year
when you intend to read it and its specific order within the group?

Do you think you can import online info about this book and use it to
put tags on it?

Do you think you can link it to an Youtube video, or some online map
or diagram?

Do you think you can add notes to it, so you can remember what do you
want to discuss with your son while reading this book with him?

Do you think you can transfer the downloaded books to the clouds,
accompanied by the info, links and tags you previously gathered, so
you can access all the info from any computer or device?

I believe you cannot do these tasks in the iPad or any Android tablet.
If I'm wrong, please, let me know. Notice that you have to do all of
these tasks with the tools provided by the OS, without installing
third-part apps or add-ons.

The reason why you cannot do these tasks with the iPad, in my opinion,
is that the iPad was conceived to fit in a business model. Basically,
the iPad was created to SELL content and not to gather content.

That's not the case for the Android and I believe it can be fixed.
That's why I'm posting this message.

So, what the community has to say?
