Rubbish, with the nokia client I used pop3 because it automatically removes all emails when you clear the box from your main computer, quite handy. It also means that if the option "leave emails on server" is used then phone accidents and users wanting access to backups are far less likely. Of course if you often look back to old emails then Imap might be quite handy on a phone (sorted by your desktop). >Get a Gmail account and get on with your life. > Webmail is absolutely less powerful and far less secure. Not to mention the countless "gmail screwed up my inline diff", reposting. Take a look at claws mail, it's awesome and allows command executions and countless other things, uses Maildir for reliability it's quite small and powerful yet brilliant and does a lot of what the traditional non gui unix mail tools can do (much more than outlook). I'm not sure of the feature extent of the meego version, especially with less commandline tools available, but it looks quite good. It's also available for meego, why not Android? Does it have anything to do with recent criticism that mobile devices should be more unix like. Not sure what that means?, less Java? better terminal support? > #2 - select all functions on a phone is rather pointless since you can't > really intend to select more than your screen can display so at best you > could delete 4 or 5 An empty folder option is no issue, surely. > > #3 - this is at best a feature of nominal significance since the only > people who would want to actually do this are people who don't have > another means to manage this e-mail (i.e., a computer) Maybe slower but should be doable. I sometimes laugh when someone spends ages on their phone because it's in their pocket and then it takes them far longer than booting their laptop would have. They agree but that involves getting up.
