To expand on my answer, the reason that there is not an email client (even though it seems there is) is that IF an email client is pre-installed on your device it is a third-party application put there by the device manufacturer. The same applies to many other apps that are pre-installed on an Android device ex. the SMS/MMS app
btw- There will be people that will tell you that you can do certain things to work around obstacles that you might face accessing data and what-not... and they MIGHT even warn you that those things are undocumented...
