As a follow on to this I've been told that specific search issues are being cherry picked from the Market support forums.
This means that if your app doesn't appear high-up or top of the list for a search for your apps specific name or package then it's worth reporting it in the Market forums. This *doesn't* mean that posts like "My app doesn't rank as high as it used to/as high as I'd like" will get any attention, we are all, at the end of the day, at the mercy of the search algorithm, and so with the overall effect appearing to be a positive one for users, some of us will have to just bite the bullet and accept it.
