Expanding it wouldn't be too complex. Your app is running on the device, with would (through requesting proper permissions) would gains you access to all the information needed to properly generate a request.
This is how someone from this group implemented an LVL based license check prior to LVL being implemented/released. As I said, definitely possible. Practical? Maybe not - your going to have to add extra permissions. Worth the effort? Possibly, but again, maybe not. It would require some engineering work and some reversing work.
