Sounds like I should prepare to be frustrated. I'm tempted to suggest we
throw in a secondary purchase provider that it can fall back on if the
Market provider fails.

I don't have a list right now, but I've encountered a bunch at a trade
show (when I wasn't looking for one), and listened to a couple of sales
pitches. The one flier I can put my hands on is for xsolla.com, but I
haven't used them, so do your due diligence. :)

Several providers offer SMS or carrier-based billing, which is in some
cases as low-resistance as having a credit card already entered -- and
sometimes will be lower resistance. Some (like xsolla above) provide
alternative payment methods that are better at monetizing the rest of
the world -- don't remember what your app does, or whether it would work
worldwide, but if so, that could be a huge bonus.
