Of course having a successful app is more a matter of luck than anything
else. Having the right app at the right time at the right price, yada
yada yada.
If there is a demand for something that isn't being filled then you do
have a better chance. That is if 10 other people don't launch a similar
app to fill the need at the same time.
Niche market apps always will sell if you understand the field for that
niche. They're not for some developer who doesn't. Niche apps helped
build the Palm market until Palm blew it by changing the OS so the apps
would no longer work. Some CEOs are dense as butter.
The game market is flooded and thus the decline in game sales. It will
take a truly unique and compelling game to sell not just a "me too."
