One way to leverage luck is to take some risks with a new technology. Those
of us who have high ranking apps mostly started years ago. It isn't so much
the idea or game, it's the amount of competition. There's a lot less in a
new technology device.

It may be that the Project Glass experiment turns into that next device.

True. What I noticed years ago when attending companies announcements of new technologies were that the small companies or lone wolf developers could jump in and the big companies would add it too their R&D (big names important for the company with the new technologies). Medium size companies would often wait until the technology matured to avoid investment risks.
