Walk into virtually any store in the US and by the checkout there will be
an entire line of iTunes gift cards. People buy these cards as presents all
the time. These cards familiarize users with the process of buying items in
the iTunes store.

Why is it there are no Google Play gift cards? There are more Android
phones than iPhones in the US yet there is no way (currently) of giving
people gift cards for the most popular device. Sure, you can get a generic
gift card but that doesn't force the user into the Play store to redeem it.

It would seem to me that Google is missing a huge opportunity to increase
the acceptance of the Play store by not offering these cards. It's a great
start that the Nexus 7 comes with a $25 credit in the Play store. This
should be expanded to also include gifting opportunities in the form of
easily purchased gift cards.
