Great, +1'd this as well.  Having recently ported an Android app to iOS, 
and having made use of it's promo codes, this is something sorely lacking 
with Android/Google Play.  It's awkward when meeting other developers when 
you want to show off your Android work, you can't exactly ask them to buy 
it, and there's no way to give them a legit, market upgradeable copy; 
sideloading is an awkward solution as well.  Meanwhile with people or other 
developers with iDevices, simply exchanging promo codes is quite simple and 
easy.
