Quick, dumb suggestion without having read the full context of this - did you look to see if there's an eth1 (or other new) interface?

I noticed mine changed from usb0 to eth1 when hooked up to my laptop some time ago. Maybe something to do with android, may be something to do with qi.

Well, that's the other problem -- at one point I had usb networking up per the
instructions on the wiki, but after I
installed android whenever I run sudo ifup usb0 I get:
usb0: ERROR while getting interface flags: No such device
SIOCSIFADDR: No such device

But I can flash the phone with neotool, so it has to be either my networking
settings (Ubuntu 8.10 with wicd) or this
version of Android. I've tried both booting my freerunner while connected to
usb and booting my computer while connected
to my freerunner and no dice.

I will try installing the images from panicking.org and see where that gets me.

Thanks for the advice,
Ben

Same here. The device is always a bit warm, which also suggests that
it does not suspend properly.
