I'm at home now and don't have the Z with me...
The needs reset and firmware came from a README file that was  
installed with the prism3-firmware ipk from the Angstrom feed.   
Evidently it's not needed?  I really don't know what the differences  
are among Prism 2/2.2/3.

I'll have a fresh start in the morning and maybe make some progress  
then.
