My settings, for no WEP, are similar, except that I allow any essid and 
wireless_key is off (and I have nothing about needing reset or firmware).

yeah, I know.  I have to figure this out, eventually, when I either get 
a card that can handle it, or re-flash the one I have, and hopefully 
someone can point the way to success.
