Hi Robert,

as an entry point this is the right image for you. By the way ... it seems that this is the fact the only working prebuilt image you can use (haven't found a working combination of packages for a X11 image with the Online Image Builder right now).

Ext3 for the second partition should work. If you are interested, I can send you the working bootargs settings today in the evening (in germany it is currently 8 o'clock in the morning). It was a lttle bit tricky to find the correct settings, but now it works like a charm :)

and with a newly-written SD card with the appropriate files, should i
expect numerous warnings the first time i boot from that card?  the
system does eventually come up, but there are various boot errors and
read-write errors to device files during that boot.  i can provide
details if necessary.

p.s.  is it safe to format the second partition as ext3?  or should i
be using ext2 instead?
