Yes, that's right.

As far as I know, no Windows driver has yet taken advantage of this
new mechanism.  The current SR firmware supports it, though, according
to the changelog on the SR Support Page.

I thought that the protocol document did a pretty good job of
succinctly but clearly explaining how reserve/release works in AoE.

If you have, though, it would be interesting to know what remains
unclear, although we might be getting esoteric enough to take the
discussion off list.  ;)
