Thanks for the clarifications. The indicated pages were very useful,
particularly the section explaining the diagnostic symbols. It seems that
my problem was related to the bilingual dictionary where I had
<e><p><l>jardin<s n="n"/></l><r>grădină<s n="n"/></r></p></e> instead of
<e><p><l>jardin<s n="n"/></l><r>grădin<s n="n"/></r></p></e>. So I was
using the lemma "grădină" instead of the root "grădin". Probably I made
this confusion because in the example given in the
Apertium_New_Language_Pair_HOWTO the selected word "gramofon" had an
identical lemma and root.
