Dear Karl, Just let me set the record straight and clarify that it is not just us from LARUS Limited who are pushing this agenda, alongside with our team there is also one fellow comrade who goes by the name of Gaurav Kansal, one of the heavyweights in the community who is standing in solidarity with us sharing the same view of "OMOV" and by no means in affiliation with any of our entities.
Mr. Kansal had on few instances voiced out his grievances in the Elected member's meeting about the structural deficiency in the weighted voting mechanism, the latest one being the community consultation on 27 July 2023, and had since provided constructive criticism towards the possible ramifications it entails if the same voting infrastructure (proxy voting and multiple selection for candidates) are going to be adopted by APNIC for years to come. Alas, his valid concerns and genuine feedbacks about the election process and voting blocs regrettably did not sit well with the EC, and had since been brushed aside and yet to be addressed until now, except the other proposal raised by him on how voting rights shall also be extended to NIR member seems to be acknowledged favorably by Christopher Hawker. With all the being said, and our positions and viewpoints being consolidated, I would like to reiterate once again that we understand full well how does the CURRENT system work, and we mean well and never intend to denigrate the election procedures and your/the EC's flagrant ignorance on the members' input without providing relevant justifications/follow up will cause wide ripples and disastrous consequences within the community. I will end this post with one rhetorical question, "is it not alarming to know that for any groups to gain an undue advantage or to effect a coup successfully, all it takes is just to seize control of 15% of the entire voting rights, rather than achieving a majority in APNIC EC elections? I rest my case, and yes, see you at APNIC 56.
