Sorry for the late answer. Unfortunately you posted your stuff shortly after our Malaga conference. I just remember that when your e-mail arrived I looked at the very first mockup, was very impressed to say the least. Then I wanted to download the second one and after that every further attempt to access your mockups was prohibited by a "The file you are trying to access isn't available at the moment" message (or something like that). Now the problem seems to have disappeared. So here are my comments. Judging from those mockups (which are awesome !! :-) the biggest strength that I admire with regard to your work is that you really know how to _place_ stuff. It's great to see that there are many people in the KDE community who know how to paint beautiful pictures. But very often the layout (i.e. how to arrange widespace, how to choose the size and distance of each icon/control element) of the objects painted just looks 95% right. Your layout of everything looks 120% perfect everywhere :-). And that's usually the last touch that is essential for reaching perfection. The only thing that I dislike is (like Ken already said) that some of the elements displayed remind me of Longhorn/Vista: This is especially true for the folders and their colors. So while inspiration from other desktops is certainly essential please try to free your mind more from the actual stuff that inspired you ;-) > anybody finding potential in it or shall I carry on for myself only ? I'd say that of course I'd like to see you involved with Oxygen and Appeal. It would be great to see you involved with Oxygen and the next generation of Plastik: Especially with regard to widgets and window decoration and placing graphics and the _layout_ of the whole graphics altogether. Please help us to make KDE 4.0 rock and to make it breathtakingly beautiful! -- Mit freundlichen Grüßen / Kind regards, Torsten Rahn _______________________________________________ Appeal mailing list [email protected] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/appeal
