I wasn't a fan of the Star when it was first added, since it seemed like
needless clutter to me given that we already had Priorities. (And I still
hate that "Visit a Web Site" tasks are also visually represented by a star
in the app.)

But I found an application for it that I find really helpful: I use it to
flag tasks that I need to take partial action on before leaving the house in
the morning. (For example, "Drop off broken toaster at Graystone Repair
Shop" will be completed on the way home from work. But I "Star" it to
remind myself that I need to put the thing in the car in the morning.)
Using the Star, I can quickly scan the Focus list to be sure that I'm taking
everything with me that I'll need for the days activities.
