Actually, it allowed us to pick apples later with good color and
quality. My experience was mainly on Macs that always were falling to
the ground about one day before they got good color. Since I was one who
had to pick fresh fruit apples for our family roadside stand, I loved it
when Alar came along. Delaying Mac picking let us get rid of the Wealthy
apples and "early Macs".
