Hello,
We are located in Modesto, California. We had a another dry winter. Despite
not having the rain we did have a good bloom. We grow granny smith, gala,
fuji, jonagolds and pink ladies. Fruit set is good on all varieties. Our
major concern is water. We flood irrigate our orchards and the water allotment
this year will only be enough for 2 1/2 irrigations. On a normal year we would
irrigate every 3 weeks starting approx May 1st through October. Our fear is
the size and quality of the fruit at harvest. We have never been faced with a
drought like we now have so we have no idea what the outcome will be.
Anyone know how the trees and fruit might react with minimal water?

Hello from the North: actually, we’re heading into bloom in southern Quebec
just now. Gingergold at 30% bloom today.

Apple Croppers-
This winter was a tough one for growers in New England, New York and the Mid
Atlantic (New Jersey).I am wondering what the apple crop potential is in your
states, provinces, countries this season?
How was your bloom? Good pollination? Winter injury to trees.
I know growers in Virginia had winter injury to apple tree trunks.
Massachusetts and Vermont light on bloom? How did Western New York fair?
How did my friends in Quebec make out?
Look foreword to your responses.
Best
