Sorry, my error ...
I forgot this is an A2 List, not an AW List. I just assumed all would know
I was inquiring about "real" AppleWorks. I'm using AW5.1.
I misled Rodney A. Hoiseth. He responded about ClarisWorks (a most logical
mistake, ever since Apple robbed that most revered software name, and
tacked it on that other software, ClarisWorks).
Bud Simrin is in the same boat with me. (He forgot too.)
My problem started when I set up a little AW5.1 spreadsheet for the purpose
of examining how badly I will suffer from a pending stock merger. How much
of my fortune they will steal as result of the merger is varying daily, as
we await the final action.
Column J shows the amount change from Column H to Column I. Its Value
format is "Commas,2". When it is negative, it displays in parentheses.
Column K shows the % change from Col H to Col I. Its Value format is
"Percent,2". When it is negative, it displays with a minus sign, rather
than being parenthesized.
Now ... the final answer to my query (I think):
The option of choosing to display negative values either parenthesized, or
with the minus sign ... is available in the AW5.1 database, but NOT in the
AW5.1 spreadsheet. Both Bud Simrin and I just remembered doing it, but did
not distinguish between the ADB and ASP capabilities.
