Well there is some value in the circuit boards that contain some small
amounts of gold etc. There is no market for the older apple II's except for
a very few collecters who probably dont want 300+ carbon copy stock
expamples with kids software and printers all at once. Schools are run like
companies where people sit around and decide what equipment to buy by
listening to the latest buzz words or whats popular with their IT guys. I
dont think any of them look into what they really want to teach and what
software will work (then buy the apropriate hardware for that software).
This would take time and effort and would also diminish the power of the
person doing the choosing (with their huge salary). If school districts
actually disclosed where their budget goes all the way to salaries for all
positions, furniture and property costs for the board of education etc
people would be too busy loading guns then worrying about macs or pc's in
the classroom.
