Hal is correct, you can not daisy chain 3.5" and 5.25" drives on a //e, you
can only do that on a //gs (and maybe on a //c+).  You can have both types
of drives on a //e, but they must be on separate controllers.  It's possible
that a third party made a controller that can handle both types, but not
that I remember.

There was one card made that would allow you to daisy-chain a 3.5" and a 2.5" drive: The Laser UDC controller card. I know it worked with most brands of 3.5 drives--not sure about the unidisk tho. (I had a laser brand 3.5 and an Apple Disk ][ 5.25" on the same chain at one time. I used a 3rd-party adapter to "change the 20-pin drive header on the 5.25 to a daisy-chain-able DB-19.)
