At the risk of going OT, this reminds me of one of my favorite "tech
support" stories. Background: this is from back in the days when you could
actually run programs off a single 5.25 floppy and hard drives (what, 5-10
megs capacity, maybe?) were hugely expensive and not at all common.

A tech gets a call from an end user: "hey, the brand new floppy you dropped
off yesterday doesn't seem to be working this morning and that new program
is mission critical. Can you drop by again with another copy?"

So the tech does, and everything is fine...until the next morning when the
tech gets a phone call identical to the one above. The tech drops by with
another copy and everything is fine that day. The next morning, however, he
gets another "the floppy won't work now" message in his voice mail.

So...off he goes again. He brings a yet another floppy to the EU, but this
time, he decides to hang out for a while to see what the EU is doing.

Quitting time rolls around, and the EU gets up and takes the floppy out of
the drive. He quite carefully puts it back into the protective sleeve. He
then neatly nails the floppy to the metal filing cabinet next to the
computer using a huge magnet.

Best,

James Fraser

PS: anyone ever run into end users back when 3.5" disks were new...and had
the EUs refer to the new floppies as "hard drives?" It sure made for some
baffling conversations...
