3.5" as hard disks (was Life Span of 5.25 disks)

Oh, I hated that. I just got around to nodding and smiling. Thank goodness nearly everyone uses optical media now, or thumbdrives, or network drives.

I had to teach a professor to use the network resources They've had here for years now. He had several floppies fail him recently. PC floppies remind me of the old joke about opening the door and the bits falling out. I think they really do for new PC floppies!

It seems the older the disk, the longer it lasts...

Yeap, I ran into that sort of stuff a lot.  My favourites were the
people who treated me as some sort of computer demigod because I
could some really simple problem (like deleting a file), then
questioned my authority when I told them that those hard cased,
3.5" diskettes were still called floppy diskettes.
